Sony SAL 75-300, my new lens

Say hi to the latest member of my DSLR family,
The Sony SAL 75-300mm...

I was half awake this morning, expecting something to arrive.
At about 10.15 a.m, I heard lorry sound and honk.

Immediately I jumped up of my bed and ran downstairs...
Woohoo, my package had arrived !!!
Without wasting time, I try it on my A230...
I almost forgot bout the lens hood, luckily I didn't throw it away with the news paper.

Test shot at 230mm :

Now my camera is damn heavy... It hurts when I hang it around my neck.
I guess it's time to save up for a Neoprene strap...
Ciaoz

Hi d4rkholeang31,
Finally, an Alpha user. SAL 75-300mm is a good telescopic lens. I assume when you bought your camera, the kit lens was SAL 18-70mm,yah?
Instead of carrying this two and had to interchange, wouldn't it be easier if you had purchased DT18250mm instead. It acts as both wide angle and telescopic as well, and the bokeh is fantastic!
Currently, I am using purely DT18250mm and carrying f2.8/100mm prime lens.
Anyway, I am still a newbie in photography.
I do not know whether you agree with me or not that I've noticed many bloggers tend to think that Nikon and Canon are far superior than Sony. Sony though just entered into the DSLR market back in 2006, but it's technology isn't new. It is a continuation of Konica Minolta plus incorporated Sony's cutting edge technology. The lens are relatively cheaper because the Image Stabilizer(IS) is in built into the camera, unlike Canon and Nikon where it's in the lens! Hence more expensive.
Though I was asked by many friends which DSLR to purchase, I have always recommend Sony for its relatively cheaper price but the technology is in par with Nikon or Canon. My rationale is buy a cheaper body, but invest the extra $$ on better lens. Carl Zeiss being the best optic manufacturer in the world has an unquestionable quality. Its so good that it's being use in Hubble Space telescope, the target sights in Tiger Tank(the most feared German tank back in WWII), and in telescopic sights in sniper rifles.
But being brand conscience, most of them purchase Nikon or Canon instead. Well, ultimately its the photographer's skill that counts. Give a high end camera to an amateur, they won't be able to produce good result, but a professional photographer can produce beautiful pictures irrespective of the brand.
Agree?
